How many times have we misunderstood the Lord when we hear Him speaking to us? Just like the woman at the well’s first concern was to drink the living water so that she would not have to come to the well again, thereby making life easier for herself. Yes, the Lord is concerned with us being fed, warm, healthy and such other things, but He is much more concerned with how we perceive the spiritual things of God.

It’s so hard for us to conceive of spiritual things, until God opens our eyes. One thing is for sure – our eyes will never be opened by God unless we are in His Word regularly and systematically. Are you a part-time student of the Word or are you ‘eating’ the Word as necessary food?
Is your focus constantly on your comfort or are you seeking to know the Lord because He is worthy and because He is the King of kings and Lord of lords? Do you praise Him for what He can offer you, or do you praise Him because He is God?
